Make sure to inspect the foam in a bouldering crash pad before you purchase.

Crash pads are serious and costly investments that your safety and life may depend on. Be wise when shopping for new gear.

Before you purchase a new bouldering crash pad. The inner foam is a very important part of the product. Make sure to inspect the foam inside the cover. You can access the foam by opening the velcro or zipper hatches. Typically located on the side or spine of the pad.

Beware of  brands that skimp on foam quality, by using cardboard or plastic corrugated board. Also, bouldering crash pad foam should be solid. It should not be made from scrap, particle foam. Particle foam, can quickly fail and has a very short life span.
